Back in 2003 I had the idea of just creating simple websites for this local little town I lived in at the time. It seamed simple enough and started advertising in the local papers, fliers and whatever else I could find to sponsor to get my name Snerdey out there.
Well, it did not take long for me to take notice that nothing was working. After spending about 10k in the 1st month I just considered it branding and moved on. Still after a while I thought what the heck is going on.
So, I contacted a friend in the same business and he advised that I should create a directory for this town and advertise that new directory. He also suggested that I use the same directory software he was using on his website.
In just a few moments my site was up and running and it had the ability to have 4 levels of advertisers. Over 300 businesses joined within the 1st month. The amazing thing that happened next were all the website orders that were coming in as the directory asked each user where to link thier advertising too.
Smart ideas do not have to be expensive. The software was just under $100.00 US and the support has been amazing!
If you think there are too many directories, think again. There are many that advertise everything. Look up some niches .. there are still many, many that need thier own directory!!
